Live broadcast on August 10 according to the Daily Mail, Amanda stavley, the boss of Newcastle United, said in the team’s new documentary “This is Newcastle United” that the Premier League revised the sponsorship rules because they were out of fear.
In 2021, Amanda stavli facilitated the acquisition of Newcastle United by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund of 0.305 billion pounds. Soon after, 18 Premier League teams voted to pass the rule that the boss was forbidden to support the team through huge sponsorship.
According to the regulations, the sponsorship agreement of jerseys worth 25 million pounds per season recently signed by Newcastle United with Saudi competition Company Sela needs to be approved by the Premier League.
When asked whether other clubs regarded Newcastle United as a threat, she said: “Yes. But I was shocked that we could buy a club in full, and then the rules changed. I think this is the reason why I am disappointed, because our income is too small, ranking 20th, and we have nothing. Yes, I was very angry at that time.
“You have to remember that no one likes to compete. The Champions League has a tight quota, only four. Other clubs do their best to ensure that the competitors are as few as possible. Due to the huge wealth of Saudi public investment funds, obviously other clubs are very resistant. I think people are worried that we have unfair advantages.”
